Creative Many Michigan (formerly ArtServe Michigan), the statewide economic development organization for the arts, culture and creative and design industries, announced Arnold Weinfeld, CEO and chairman of Prima Civitas Foundation in East Lansing, Mich. and Ken Krayer, executive director of Design West Michigan in Grand Rapids, Mich. were elected to the Board of Directors.

Design West Michigan announced today that Ken Krayer has been named the organization’s new Executive Director.
After spending decades working in both higher education and professional design, Krayer will now use his broad experience to help grow Design West Michigan. Most recently, the organization helped coordinate the second annual West Michigan Design Week, which featured exhibitions, site visits, workshops, and guest speakers such as industrial designer Tucker Viemeister and biomechatronics pioneer and Design West Michigan-sponsored keynote speaker Dr. Hugh Herr, among others.
Krayer’s career began as an adjunct professor of industrial design at California College of the Arts. He went on to teach at the College for Creative Studies, where he chaired both the Product Design and Furniture departments during his five-year tenure.
As a designer, Krayer most recently worked as an independent consultant, serving clients including Sauder Woodworking, Rhode Island School of Design, and Steelcase, among others. Prior to that he served as Director of Design for Haworth, Inc.; Director of Design for Details, a division of Steelcase; Senior Designer for San Francisco-based A+O Studio; and Exhibit Designer for Netherlands-based Studio Dunbar.
